Newborn babies can only see high contrast, black and white, and these images give the baby something to focus on as their vision develops. They will also soothe and entertain your baby and could be used for open-ended Montessori games later on. 

These cards can be useful if you have a toddler and an infant - let toddler talk to her / his little brother / sister using these cards and explain what is on the picture.

Place the cards on the wall next to your baby to encourage them to turn their head to look at them. It can be your baby's moving area, changing table or bed. Newborns can only see up to 30 cm in front of them, so make sure the pictures are close enough for them to see.
You can use stimulation cards during tummy time, in the car or even make your own mobile.
